Step into a space built for slowing down. At our Akron clinic inside Wellbeing Akron, Kusala Healing Arts brings together the resonance of sound and the intelligence of skilled touch — two of the oldest healing arts, offered with the care and presence they deserve. Whether you're carrying physical tension, nervous system overwhelm, or simply need a place to exhale, this is where that work begins.

A Clinic Room Built for Deep Rest

Our treatment room operates out of Wellbeing Akron, located at 1692 Merriman Road in Akron. It's quiet, unhurried, and set up specifically for the kind of work we do — therapeutic massage that meets the body where it is, and sound healing that lets the nervous system settle without effort. You won't find a clinical waiting room or a rushed fifteen-minute slot here. Every session is held with the time and attention integrative healing actually requires.

Sound Healing

At Kusala Healing Arts, Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) brings ancient sound healing into modern wellness. Fully clothed, you'll rest comfortably on the table as therapeutic singing bowls are gently placed and played in a soothing sequence tailored to your needs. The deep, resonant tones help quiet the mind, ease emotional tension, and restore balance to the bodymind system — especially helpful for those navigating stress, anxiety, or overactive thought patterns.

Rooted in ancient tradition and supported by modern science, sound therapy works by using specific tones and frequencies to influence brainwave activity, encouraging deep calm, focused awareness, and energetic balance. VST also pairs beautifully with our therapeutic massage work, deepening each session's therapeutic integration.

90-minute session: $150

Therapeutic Massage

Our therapeutic massage work — a form of medical massage focused on orthopedic concerns like chronic pain, injury, and movement restriction — centers on two complementary approaches: John F. Barnes' Myofascial Release Approach® and Visionary Craniosacral Work®. Both are trauma-informed and tailored to what your body is actually holding, not a fixed routine.

Myofascial Release uses gentle, sustained pressure on the fascia — the body's connective tissue network — to release restrictions that cause pain, limit movement, and hold unresolved emotional tension. As these layers soften, many clients experience greater ease, mobility, and a meaningful shift in long-held patterns.

Craniosacral Work is a subtle, intuitive therapy that works with the rhythms of the skull, spine, and sacrum to unwind deeply held patterns of stress. Through light touch and attentive presence, the nervous system is invited into a state of profound rest — often bringing emotional release and a quiet sense of inner spaciousness.

60-minute session: $95  |  90-minute session: $145

Who We Work With

Clients come to the Akron clinic for chronic pain and tension, high-stress careers, recovery from injury, and general nervous system burnout. If you're navigating a workers' compensation claim, Kusala is BWC certified and can support that process directly.

Veterans Care Through the VA

Kusala Healing Arts provides care to veterans through the VA's Community Care Network — for every wound, seen and unseen. Treatment centers on therapeutic massage, including trigger point therapy and myofascial release, blended with non-needling elements of Chinese medicine to support the body's broader capacity to settle and heal. Sessions are approached with Warriors at Ease (WAE) trauma-informed training, honoring the particular ways stress and injury settle into the body after service. Therapeutic massage is available through this pathway, built around your referral and your pace.

If you're a veteran interested in care through the VA Community Care Network, reach out and we'll help you understand the referral process.

What to Expect on Your First Visit

Your first session starts with a short conversation about what brought you in and what your body needs right now — not a generic intake form. From there, we build the session around you, whether that means quiet, sound-led rest, focused therapeutic massage, or a blend of both. There's no pressure to know exactly what you want going in; part of the work is helping you find that out.
